1. Information We Collect

Account information

When you register, we collect your email address and a hashed password. If you sign in with GitHub, we receive your GitHub username and email address.

Content you create

We store the items, collections, notes, code snippets, prompts, commands, links, and files you save to DevsKeep. This content belongs to you.

Usage data

We collect basic product analytics — pages visited, features used, and errors — to improve the product. This may be collected via Vercel Analytics or a similar tool.

Billing data

Subscription payments are processed by Paddle. We do not store full payment card details. Paddle provides us with your subscription status, customer ID, and transaction history.

File uploads

Files and images you upload are stored on Amazon S3-compatible object storage. We retain these files while your account is active.

2. How We Use Your Information

• To provide, operate, and improve the Service
• To authenticate your identity and manage your session
• To process subscription billing through Paddle
• To send transactional emails (email verification and password reset)
• To power AI features (auto-tagging, summaries, code explanation) — your content may be sent to OpenAI's API to generate these responses
• To monitor for errors and service reliability

3. AI Features

DevsKeep uses OpenAI's API to power optional AI features (auto-tagging, summaries, code explanation). When you use these features, relevant content from your items is sent to OpenAI for processing. We do not use your content to train models. See OpenAI's privacy policy for details on how they handle data.

AI features are opt-in and only available on the Pro plan.

4. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal data.

We share data only with the following service providers:

Each provider is bound by their own privacy policy and data processing agreements.

5. Data Retention

We retain your data while your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete your personal data and content within 30 days, except where required by law (e.g., billing records retained for tax purposes).

6. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Request correction of inaccurate data
• Request deletion of your data ("right to be forgotten")
• Export your data (available via the export feature in the app)
• Object to or restrict certain processing

EU/EEA users: We process your data on the basis of contract performance (providing the Service), legitimate interests (analytics and security), and consent (AI features).

7. Cookies and Tracking

We use session cookies to keep you logged in. We do not use third-party advertising trackers. We may use minimal analytics (Vercel Analytics or similar) that does not use persistent cookies or cross-site tracking.

8. Security

We use industry-standard security practices including encrypted connections (HTTPS), hashed passwords, and access controls. No system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. Children

DevsKeep is not intended for users under 16 years of age. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by email or in-app notification. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance.
